Roleplaying Suggestions
Guild Wars is an MMORPG, but too often, we lose sight of the RP aspect.
I'd like to see changes to GW that allow players who want to roleplay to do so more easily, while not encroaching on other players who just want to play the game.
A few ideas I had:
Player quotes - Some people think the henchmen quotes are horrible, and some love them. As a member of the second group, I'd love to come up with my own set of quotes that are randomly spammed in the middle of battle, especially if in conjunction with my skills. FFXI had a similar system, and this was also especially useful for guiding the team in PvE situations, as you could call "Flare spell in 3 seconds", to help your team prepare to spike, or "Flame within, destroy my enemies!" just for RP sake. Of course, other players could turn off these quotes if they didn't want to hear you (there's also a discussion for controls to turn off the henchmen/hero quotes somewhere in this forum).
Profiles - It would be great if I could right click on another player and see a profile of them, ie. accomplishments, info, or a nice backstory, as well as details of their armor/equipment (if they choose to show it), and maybe even their complete list of titles. It might add some interest to the faceless player characters we all see in towns and outposts.
These are kind of farfetched hopes, but that's what the suggestion forums are all about, right?

I do like the idea of quotes during a battle, to add more character and humour to certain situations, i think its something that people (especially roleplay fanatics) would really enjoy. ('LEEEROY JENKINSSS')
However the idea of a profile is a little too over to top for me, im not sure what it is but i just cant seem to get attatched to the idea.

I like the idea of backstories.
If you CTRL+click on a player, a window pops up showing the character with his weapons prepared and a backstory, either written by the player, or accumulated during the game. Then underneath this would be the titles that character has acquired.

Quotes and backstories would be awesome! *_*
I kind of miss that roleplay aspect in GW, as much as I love the game... Guess I'm too much of a D&Der at heart...

I can kind of see where you're coming from with that comment. Since Guild Wars doesn't give players alot of story choice options (you're all either students of Shing Jea, survivors of the searing, or sunspear recruits) there isn't too much room for development, and it takes alot of imagination to break out of the main story. Maybe giving us some real choices (at least more than luxon-kurzick) to make would precede the development of a character profile.
I'm glad so many people see player battle quotes with the same interest I do
